BRIDES BEWARE! I hate to write a negative review, but after the stress of dealing with this florist, I feel as though I must. When I first met with Dawn, she was accommodating, inquisitive, and pleasant. She had ideas for saving me money. I was planning to order dyed orchids and Gerber daisies from a wholesale distributor to use in my homemade centerpieces, and she suggested I make the bridesmaids bouquets from the leftover flowers (savings: $300). I also was contemplating large vertical arrangements for the posts of a gazebo, and she suggested large tulle bows instead (savings +/- $500). She asked if she could have 10 or so stems of the orchids to make the boutonnieres and corsages, which again cut the cost significantly. The only item I really paid full price for was my bridal bouquet. Because of all the savings, I decided to order an additional arrangement to use on the place card table. I was so impressed after the initial consultation that I went ahead and paid in full for the services.

As the wedding grew closer, I called Dawn to confirm the number of orchid stems she would need, and reminding her that they were to be delivered the Thursday before my Sunday wedding. This florist is not open on Sunday, so we previously agreed that I would pick up everything on Saturday before they closed. Dawn had an unpleasant tone; she said she thought the flowers were arriving on Wednesday, and that she needed them Wednesday in order to have enough time to complete the pieces. (which only consisted of seven boutonnieres, three corsages, the bouquet, and the arrangement). I reminded her that I’d originally arranged for the flowers to be delivered Thursday, and even that was a stretch because the wholesaler recommended not having the flowers shipped any earlier than two days before the event. Dawn assured me that because they were orchids, that they would survive just fine. I contacted the wholesaler who in turn coordinated with the buyer and grower of my orchids to change the delivery date. The wholesaler again warned me, but I went with the ‘professional’ opinion of the florist and had them delivered on Wednesday. When the flowers arrived they were absolutely gorgeous. I did extensive research on cut orchid care and learned that they needed to be kept at 60 degrees, out of direct sunlight and away from cool drafts. I learned that I needed to cut the stems every few days, and mist the flowers with water to keep them fresh. I subsequently cranked the A/C in my condo down to 60, and obsessed over the care of these 100 stems of cut dendrobium orchids. Despite my best efforts, about a third of the flowers wilted and died before they made it into my wedding centerpieces.

When I delivered the requested number of stems to Dawn, my excitement was palatable at their beauty, she all but scoffed and claimed she ‘didn’t realize’ they were ‘going to be like this’ (dyed, that is…even though I had shown her a picture and explained that the reason for special ordering was the fact that they were so uniquely dyed). She had a bad attitude on the phone the week prior, and an equally bad attitude when I dropped the stems off. All of this aside, the WOSRT part was when I arrived to pick up my expensive bridal bouquet and other pieces on Saturday. For my BLUE and PURPLE wedding, this florist had created a bouquet full of hot PINK flowers!! Disgusted with the bouquet, I sacrificed the separate arrangement (which somehow WAS designed with the right colors – using the orchids I provided, purple roses, blue iris, etc.) to RE-make the $150 useless bridal bouquet she made. To top it all off, the hydrangeas in both the bridal bouquet and separate arrangement withered and died before the wedding ceremony could even begin. I would never recommend this florist to a bride for any reason. She was hard to deal with, unpleasant at every turn, and clearly incapable of following simple direction.
